Quotation for our Times
“Dear friends, may no adversity paralyze you.
Be afraid neither of the world,
nor of the future,
nor of your weakness.
The Lord has allowed you
to live in this moment of history
so that, by your faith,
his name will continue to resound
throughout the world.”
Pope Benedict XVI

A Shorter Summa
Subtitle: The Essential Philosophical Passages of St. Thomas Aquinas' Summa Theologica.
This is a shortened version of Kreeft's much larger Summa of the Summa (over 500 pages), which in turn was a shortened version of the original, Summa Theologica (4000 pages).
The Summa is considered the greatest, most ambitious, most rational book of theology ever written.
It is also a work of philosophy, which is selected, excerpted, arranged, and explained in footnotes here by Kreeft. St. Thomas Aquinas is also recognized as one of the greatest philosophers who ever lived. He combines the two fundamental ideals of philosophical writing: clarity and profundity. He is a master of metaphysics and technical terminology, yet full of both theoretical and practical wisdom.
While the Summa Theologica is timeless, it is especially relevant today for its' synthesis of faith and reason; revelation and philosophy; the Biblical and the classical Greco-Roman heritages.
This volume contains the most influential passages of St. Thomas' philosophy along with help in understanding them.
162 pages. Softcover.
